WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS GUY?

The picture above is that of the once uber famous british singer/songwriter Craig David. Born Craig Ashley David on May 5 1981, he became a household name in the United Kingdom in 1999 when he featured on a track by Artful dodger (an  English RnB and Garage band) called "Re-Rewind". However, he first came into my consciousness when I heard the track Fill Me In, a single off his first album Born to Do it, released in the year 2000. That was a very catchy tune, but it was nothing compared to some of the other great tracks on the album such as 7 Days, Follow Me, Time To Party and my favourites: Walking Away (see video below), Booty Man, Can't Be Messing 'Round and Rendezvous. In my not-too-humble opinion, year 2000 was a good year for music and Born to Do It  was one of the albums that contributed to its greatness. It was and is still one a classic album. An evergreen album. In fact, I am presently listening to it as I write. Rendezvous still sounds as good as ever...
Then in 2002, Craig put out another beast of an album. True, it was not as popular as his debut album- in Nigeria anyway- but his sophomore effort, Slicker than your Average, was nothing to laugh at. It was a mix of slow jams (such as Personal, You Don't Miss Your Water, What's Changed) and club bangers (Slicker Than Your Average, What's Your Flavour?, Spanish). However, my favourite on the album was - and still is- the club banger Hands Up in the Air. I remember putting this song on repeat whenever I got back home from school as a student of the University of Lagos in 2002. It was just a feel-good track. Yes, Slicker Than Your Average could never hold a torch to Born to Do It, but what do you expect? Born to Do It was his debut album, and debut albums are usually the best (More on this subject another day). But it was still one hell a great album.
His 2005 effort, The Story Goes featured the massive single All the Way and four other great songs, UnbelievableDon't Love You No More, Let Her Go and Take 'Em Off.  In 2007 CG dropped his fourth album, this time entitled Trust Me. Trust me, it was another hit-riddled album, although maybe not  nearly hit-riddled as Born to Do It. It contained the popular single, Hot Stuff and a few other nice joints.
So, all of the foregone beggars the question: What happened to Craig David? Where is he now? I do not believe that he has forgotten how to sing or write songs, so why haven't we heard from him in a while? Is he in some studio somewhere, writing and recording? Is he still touring with his old music? Or is he now a 9 to 5er? I would really like to know.
