Sorry Brother Love!!! Jay-Z Dethrones Diddy As Forbes' Richest Hip-Hop Act
Source: DJ Booth |
Diddy should have
taken Jay-Z serious when the latter’s album cover (in conjunction
with Kanye West) said “Watch The Throne.” Brother love failed to
do so and so the throne has been usurped.
In the Forbes annual
ranking of Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Acts released on Thursday, Jay-Z
occupies the number one position with a estimated net worth of $900
million, displacing Diddy to second place with an estimated net worth
of $825 million. Dr Dre sits in third position with a net worth of
$770 million.
This is a marked change in configuration of the top three wealthiest hip-hop acts, as in 2016, the following was a snapshot of the top three wealthiest hip-hop acts according to Forbes:
1. Sean "Diddy" Combs: $750M
2. Andre "Dr Dre" Young: $710M
3. Sean "Jay-Z" Carter: $610M
I guess it is fair
to say that the race to become Hip-Hop’s first billionaire rapper
(or former rapper) has just gotten hotter. Let’s see who breaches
the $1 billion mark first.
